TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Auburn University
COMP 1000 Coordination Team, Spring 2009 - August 2009
As part of the coordination team I assist with creating and managing the Blackboard sections.
I also assist with other related tasks such as assignment and exam updates, and make‐up coordination.

Auburn University Teaching Assitant, August 2008 ‐ August 2009
As a lab instructor and grader for an introductory computer course, I assist students with laboratory
assignments, administer exams, and perform other related tasks.

Tougaloo College
Supplemental Instructor Leader, 2003 ‐ 2005
I provided tutoring and supplemental instruction for Mathematics and Computer Science courses
including Calculus I and II, Fundamental Programming with C++, and Visual Basic.

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

COMP 6620 User Interface Design and Evaluation Project, 2008
Topic: “Seniors in Second Life”
Faculty Mentor: Dr. Cheryl Seals
Team Members: Aqueasha Martin, Wanda Moses, Justus Nyagwencha, and Kelley Clanton
Each team member designed a classroom in Second Life based on the most popular interests of a group
of seniors in the Auburn community. With the senior population growing rapidly, and with more seniors
being exposed to computers, the aim is to provide a convenient and fun virtual learning community to seniors
while introducing them to how computers can benefit them.

UNCF/ Mellon‐Mays Fellow Research, 2003 ‐ 2005
Topic: “The Use of Computer Science Applications in the Area of Public Health”
Mentor: Dr. Nimr Fahmy
I conducted a statistical analysis of ARIC data using SAS programming.

Summer Undergraduate Program in Research at Berkeley ‐ IT, 2004
Topic: “Metaphors in the Design of Social Service Applications”
Faculty Mentor: Dr. John Canny
Graduate Mentors: Matthew Kam and Morgan Ames
I aided in the design of a user interface to assist low‐income individuals in the San Francisco Bay‐
Area in finding jobs and housing. The goal of the project was to determine is metaphor usage in
earlier stages of the design process would help to evoke cultural nuances with potential users,
particularly when cultural chasms exist between underserved communities and designers.

RELATED EXPERIENCE AND PROJECTS

Computer Technology Solutions, Inc., Birmingham, AL
Analyst, 2007 – 2008
Served as an analyst where I worked on web and software development projects using Classic ASP,
ASP .NET, SQL Script, HTML, Java Script, VBScript, Crystal Reports, Business Objects, and C#. These
development efforts spanned over at about 4 ‐ 5 projects one being a requirements engineering phase.
I was also a member of the Team Foundation Server and BizTalk teams where I trained in using these
technologies. I also presented several small presentations on Team Foundation Server and Team System
to my colleagues.

Directed Readings, Birmingham, AL
University of Alabama, Birmingham, 2007
Gained experience working with SpeechClispe a project headed by Dr. Gray. SpeechClispe allows
programmers to program via voice. I setup the SpeechClispe environment and demonstrated its
use. No relevant development progress contributed.

Bridge to the Doctorate/ ALSAMP Annual Conference
First Place Poster Award, 2007
Topic: “Content‐Based Image Retrival
I implemented a Java implementation of a content‐based image retrieval system focusing on both color code and texture approaches. The poster was based on a class project.

Jackson Heart Study ARIC Center Information Technology, Jackson, MS
Intern, 2005
I developed a software application to assist Jackson Heart study staff with analysis and retrieval of
participant data. The application was developed using Visual Basic .NET and integrated with an Oracle Database.
